A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING JOSHUA CLAYTON "JOSH" TAYLOR ON RECEIVING THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD.

     WHEREAS, Joshua Clayton "Josh" Taylor, a native of Batesville, Mississippi, attained the rank of Eagle Scout on September 24, 2000; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor is a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 478 of Batesville, Mississippi, where he has held leadership positions as Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader and Den Chief and is active in the Order of the Arrow and the Brotherhood; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor attended Boy Scout Summer Camp for four years including three years at Camp Tallaha and one year at Camp Kia Kima; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor's Eagle Scout project consisted of planning, building and placing on site at Arkabutla Lake, Arkabutla, Mississippi, two handicap hunting ground stands; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor, a senior at South Panola High School, has excelled and maintained a strong academic background evidenced by his membership in academic honor organizations such as Mu Alpha Theta and the National Honor Society as well as his selection to the Superintendent's Honor Roll; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to his academics and scout activities, Mr. Taylor participates in several extracurricular activities including the school golf team, the school paper, playing the trombone in the school band and playing softball in a church league; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor is a member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church and serves as President of the Methodist Youth Fellowship and on the church drama team; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor has been encouraged and supported through all his endeavors by his family, especially his parents, Ronnie and Nita Taylor, and his younger brother, Jarrett, who is also a Boy Scout; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Mr. Joshua Clayton "Josh" Taylor on receiving the Eagle Scout Award and express our warmest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Joshua Clayton "Josh" Taylor and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
