AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF VICKSBURG, MISSISSIPPI, TO EXECUTE PROJECT COOPERATION AGREEMENTS WITH THE UNITED STATES ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS, FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF PROJECTS SPONSORED IN WHOLE OR IN PART BY THE UNITED STATES ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS AND TO HOLD AND SAVE THE UNITED STATES FREE FROM DAMAGES WHICH ARE NOT CAUSED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OR ITS CONTRACTORS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The governing authorities of the City of Vicksburg, Mississippi, in their discretion, may execute project cooperation agreements with the United States Army Corps of Engineers to provide land, easements and/or rights-of-way necessary for the construction of various projects funded in whole or in part by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, and to maintain and operate such projects after completion of construction of the projects.  Such projects may include, but are not limited to, the construction of water wells and the development of a United States Army Corps of Engineer's Site Interpretive Museum. 

     (2)  The City of Vicksburg shall hold and save the United States free from damages which are not caused by the federal government or its contractors during the construction of the projects.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
