AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS TO PLACE A MILITARY AIRCRAFT AT A PARTICULAR LOCATION ON THE RIGHT-OF-WAY OF U.S. HIGHWAY 45; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The governing authorities of the City of Columbus, in their discretion, and upon approval of the Mississippi Transportation Commission, in recognition and appreciation for the United States Air Force and, more particularly, Columbus Air Force Base, may place a military aircraft on the right-of-way of U.S. Highway 45 at the following described location:

A part of the Southwest Quarter of Section 9, Township 18 South, Range 18 West, Lowndes County, Mississippi, and more particularly described as follows:

Beginning at the intersection of the Southern edge of pavement of the Northwest Ramp of U.S. Highway 82 and the edge of pavement of the left lane of U.S. Highway 45 North as shown by State Highway Department plans BP 0011-3 (28), such point being opposite Station 601+81 of the centerline of the right lane of U.S. Highway 45 North; thence Northeasterly, along the southern edge of pavement of the Northwest Ramp, a distance of 661.8 feet, more or less, to a point opposite Station 323+93 of U.S. Highway 82; thence Southwesterly, along the Northern edge of pavement of U.S. Highway 82, a distance of 853.6 feet, more or less, to a point opposite Station 315+29 of U.S. Highway 82; thence Northwesterly, along the edge of pavement of the left lane of U.S. Highway 45 North, a distance of 426.5 feet, more or less, to the Point of Beginning and containing 2.9 acres, more or less.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
