AN ACT TO ALLOW HOME-SCHOOLED STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS ON THE CONDITION THAT THEY PASS A CERTAIN EXAMINATION; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Any student enrolled in a legitimate home school program under Section 37-13-91 may participate in any athletic program of a high school in the public school district where the student resides, if the student has passed the examination required by the State Department of Education for home-schooled students to enter or reenter a public high school. The State Department of Education shall adopt rules and regulations to implement provisions of this section.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2003.
