House Bill 900

AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT NO MOTORIZED VEHICLE SHALL BE ALLOWED ON THE SIDEWALK OF ANY MUNICIPALITY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  No motorized vehicle shall be allowed on the sidewalk of any municipality.  For purposes of this section, "motorized vehicle" means any vehicle that is self-propelled, and "sidewalk" means that portion of a street between curb lines, or the lateral lines of a roadway and the adjacent property lines intended for the use of pedestrians.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2003.
