A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE WEST LAUDERDALE HIGH SCHOOL "LADY KNIGHTS" GIRLS SLOW-PITCH SOFTBALL TEAM AND COACH JERRY BOATNER FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2002 SEASON.

     WHEREAS, the West Lauderdale High School Girls Slow-Pitch Softball Team, the "Lady Knights," have finished the 2002 season with an outstanding 29 and 7 record and the Class 3A State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, on their way to the State Championship game, the Lady Knights won the South State Regional Championship and the Meridian Invitational Tournament; and

     WHEREAS, the following team members were recognized for their outstanding play during the season and post-season:  Amy Frazier, All-State; JJ Huggins, All-State; Kristina Gardner, All-District; Courtney Godwin, All-District; Holly Herrington, All-District; and Katie Moulds, All-District; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Knights are ably led by Coach Jerry Boatner and Assistant Coach Jody Hurst who praised the achievements of this championship team; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the special accomplishments of this group of student athletes, who bring honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the West Lauderdale High School "Lady Knights" Girls Slow-Pitch Softball Team and Coach Jerry Boatner for their outstanding 2002 championship season, and wish them continued success in their future athletic and academic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Boatner on behalf of the team, be forwarded to the Principal of West Lauderdale High School and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
