Senate Resolution 32

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NORTHEAST LAUDERDALE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING SEASON.

     WHEREAS, the Northeast Lauderdale High School Girls Slow-Pitch 2002 Softball Team finished the 2002 season with 29 wins and 11 losses, for a two-year record of 63 and 17; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Trojans competed well in tournament play, winning the Meridian Tournament for the second consecutive year, the District 5-4A Championship, the South State Championship and finishing as runner-up in the Class 4A State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, many individual honors have been bestowed upon various team members in recognition of their fine, dedicated play this season, including Lauren Webb, All-District/All-State Team; Raleigh Odom, All-District/All-State Team; Amber Gray, All-District/All-State Team; Blair Rawson, All-District Team; and Jana Olczak, All-District Team; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Trojans have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Chris Harper and Assistant Coaches Cindy Myers and Billy Rawson, who have broadened the team's knowledge and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Trojans have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players, their coaches and school; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this group of student athletes, who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Northeast Lauderdale High School Girls Softball Team for their outstanding season.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be presented to Coach Harper for the team, furnished to the Principal of Northeast Lauderdale High School and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
