Senate Resolution 19

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF PUBLIC SERVICE OF THE FORMER STATE REPRESENTATIVE EARL E. "BUCK" LADNER, JR., OF BAY ST. LOUIS, MISSISSIPPI, AND EXPRESSING THE SYMPATHY OF THE SENATE.

WHEREAS, former State Representative Earl E. "Buck" Ladner, Jr., of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, passed away on October 7, 2002; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ladner's public service and civic contributions are a matter of public record: Mr. Ladner graduated from Hancock High School. He attended Pearl River Community College, where he played football. He served with the Hancock County Sheriff's Department, 1965-1969. He was Justice of the Peace for Hancock County, 1969-1972. He served as State Representative for Mississippi, 1972-1976. He was President of Gulf Coast Security Services, Inc., from 1980-2002. He served in the Army National Guard. He was a long-time standing member of the Knights of Columbus and a long-time member of the Shamrock Club. He was a past member of the Mississippi Sheriffs Association and the Mississippi Peace Officers Association; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ladner was a native of Kiln and a resident of Bay St. Louis. Mr. Ladner was born April 4, 1948 to Mr. & Mrs. Earl E. Ladner, Sr. of Kiln. Mr. Ladner was married to the late Janice C. Ladner; and

WHEREAS, survivors include daughter, Joy Lynn Ladner Moran and husband, Gene; grandsons, Conner E. Ladner and Devon Moran of Waveland; his mother, Birdie Favre Ladner; a brother, J. Larry Ladner and wife, Peggy of Kiln; a sister, Carolyn Ladner Adam of Bay St. Louis; long-time companion, Margie Maurigi and her sons, Miachel Anthony Oliva and Brandon Paul Oliva of Bay St. Louis; 16 nieces and 30 nephews; and 30 great-nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, it is with sadness that we note the passing of a former member of the Mississippi Legislature whose career in public service brought honor to his community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life and legacy of public service of the former State Representative Earl E. "Buck" Ladner, Jr., of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, and hereby express to his family the sympathy of the Mississippi Senate.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the surviving family of Mr. Ladner and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
