TO THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE:

GOVERNOR’S VETO MESSAGE FOR SENATE BILL 2777

I am returning Senate Bill Number 2777:  AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 9-3-45, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO ALLOW RECIPIENTS OF THE MISSISSIPPI EDITION OF SUPREME COURT DECISIONS TO OPT OUT OF RECEIVING BOUND COPIES; TO AMEND SECTION 7-3-13, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO CLARIFY WHEN BOUND VOLUMES ARE TO BE PROVIDED TO THE STATE LIBRARY; TO AMEND SECTION 7-3-15, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO CLARIFY DISTRIBUTION OF THE SOUTHERN REPORTER-MISSISSIPPI CASES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES without my approval, and assign the following reasons for my veto.

Senate Bill 2777 is identical to and duplicates House Bill 1569 which has already been signed into law.  This veto is not intended to and does not affect the status of House Bill 1569.

I urge the members to sustain the veto and reject Senate Bill No. 2777.

Respectfully submitted,

RONNIE MUSGROVE
