AMENDMENT No. 1 PROPOSED TO

                             Senate Bill NO. 3096

                             By Representative(s) Committee


     Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

 


     SECTION 1.  In addition to all other sums heretofore appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the State Treasury to the credit of the Criminal Justice Fund No. 3086 not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the Office of the Attorney General for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2002 ............................... $         72,887.00.

     This additional appropriation is made for the purpose of defraying the costs of certain outside legal assistance and court fees incurred by the Office of the Attorney General.

     SECTION 2.  In addition to all other sums heretofore appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the State Treasury to the credit of the Criminal Justice Fund No. 3086 not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of paying a judgment rendered against the State of Mississippi for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2002$        124,195.00.

     This additional appropriation is made for the purpose of paying a court ordered judgment as required in Civil Action No. 3:99CV215(L)(N); Keith Brown vs. Frazier Bolton, in his individual capacity, and Dr. James E. Lyons, President of Jackson State University, in his official capacity, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi Jackson Division.

     SECTION 3.  The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the proper fund or funds as set forth in this act, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
