A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE WARREN CENTRAL VIKINGS HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE CLASS 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND FOR HAVING A PHENOMENAL SEASON.

     WHEREAS, the Warren Central Vikings won the Class 5A State Baseball championship; and

     WHEREAS, in their march to the championship, the WARREN CENTRAL VIKINGS finished the 2001 season with a phenomenal record of 36 wins and only 3 loses; and

     WHEREAS, the Vikings steamrolled through the Class 5A championship play-offs with eight consecutive victories; and

     WHEREAS, the Vikings were the District 3, Class 5A champions for the 4th consecutive year; and

     WHEREAS, the Vikings were ranked #2 in the South by USA Today and #4 in the nation by USA Today; and

     WHEREAS, the Vikings were molded into a championship team by Coach Sam Temple; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Senate of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend the noteworthy accomplishments of the student athletes of this state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Warren Central Vikings High School Baseball Team for winning the Class 5A State Championship and for having a phenomenal season and wish them continued success in their athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to the Warren Central Vikings Baseball Team and to Coach Sam Temple.
