Senate Resolution 63

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING GENEVA DONALD OF PORTERVILLE, MISSISSIPPI, COUNTY-WIDE SPELLING BEE CHAMPION FOR KEMPER COUNTY.

     WHEREAS, Geneva Donald, a Sixth Grade student at East Kemper Elementary School, won the 2002 N.I.E. County-Wide Spelling Bee Championship for Kemper County; and

     WHEREAS, as County Champion, Geneva represented East Kemper Elementary in the Statewide Spelling Bee competition; and

     WHEREAS, Geneva's parents are Eddie and Rosa Donald of Porterville, Mississippi, and she has three older sisters, Lashonda, Rosalyn and Cushena; and

     WHEREAS, her Principal at East Kemper Elementary in Scooba is Mrs. Mary Smart, her favorite subject is Math, and Geneva is on the Principal's Achievement List at East Kemper; and

     WHEREAS, Geneva's career goal is to attend college and major in Theatre or the Performing Arts to prepare her for an acting career; and

     WHEREAS, she attends St. Luke Primitive Baptist Church in Porterville; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the accomplishments of this young Mississippian who has brought honor to her school and to her community:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Geneva Donald of Porterville, Mississippi, County-Wide Spelling Bee Championship for Kemper County, and wish her success in her future academic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Geneva and her family, be forwarded to the Principal of East Kemper Elementary and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
