A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MISSISSIPPI MEMBERS OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY ACADEMIES CLASS OF 2002 UPON THEIR GRADUATION AND DEDICATION TO MILITARY SERVICE.
WHEREAS, the United States government has established military academies for the purpose of producing motivated, educated and trained leadership for the various branches of our Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, a distinguished roster of Mississippians are completing four years of extensive academic, physical fitness and military training at the United States military academies in preparation to become military leaders, committed to the service of our country and willingly placing themselves in harm's way to protect and defend the United States and the Constitution; and
WHEREAS, the following young men and women through hard work and determination earned the respect of their peers, their families, their communities and their state for their impending graduation as the Class of 2002 at the United States Naval Academy: John C. Culpepper, Raymond, Mississippi; Belinda L. King, Picayune, Mississippi; the Class of 2002 at the United States Military Academy at West Point: Brant A. Auge, Ocean Springs, Mississippi; the Class of 2002 at the United States Air Force Academy: Ashley Gee, Glen, Mississippi; Edmund Keeley Herrington, Long Beach, Mississippi; Wesley Everette Higginbotham, Louisville, Mississippi; Andrew Whittington Hunt, Clinton, Mississippi; Joseph Trenton McCoy, Brandon, Mississippi; Adam Keith Roberts, Batesville, Mississippi; Angela Marie Wheatley, Biloxi, Mississippi; and the Class of 2002 at the United States Merchant Marine Academy: Ryan McRee, Pascagoula, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the scholastic and difficult training accomplishments and impending military career of these dedicated young Mississippians, who have brought honor to their communities and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Mississippi members of the various United States military academies Class of 2002, extend to them the greetings of the Legislature, commend them for their dedication to public service and wish them and their families success in their military careers and future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the Mississippi members of the graduating classes and their families and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
