A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NORTHEAST LAUDERDALE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING SEASON.
WHEREAS, the Northeast Lauderdale High School Girls Softball Team finished the 2001 season with 33 wins and 6 losses; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Trojans competed well in tournament play, winning the Meridian Tournament, the District Championship, the South State Championship and finishing as runner-up in the Class 4A State Championship; and
WHEREAS, the 2001 season culminated with a Number 4 state-wide ranking for the Lady Trojans; and
WHEREAS, many individual honors have been bestowed upon various team members in recognition of their fine, dedicated play this season, including Lauren Webb (All-Area Team), Raleigh Odom (All-Area Team, All-Area MVP), Jennifer Bristow (All-Area Team), Blair Rawson (All-Area Team), and Grace Ann Watkins (All-Area Team); and
WHEREAS, the Lady Trojans have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Chris Harper and Assistant Coaches Cindy Myers and Billy Rawson, who have broadened the team's knowledge and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Northeast Lauderdale High School Girls Softball Team are as follows: Katie Bergin, April Harper, Lauren Webb, Raleigh Odom, Blair Rawson, Quatrecia McShane, Amber Gray, Jana Olczak, Grace Ann Watkins, Jennifer Bristow, Capri Norris, Kim Crawford, Jessie Young, Savannah Hall, Ivy Rawson, Sterling Garrett, Kara Hull, Jessica Love and Jayme Gardner; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Trojans have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players, their coaches and school; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Northeast Lauderdale High School Girls Softball Team for their outstanding season.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Northeast Lauderdale High School and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
