Senate Concurrent Resolution 616

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION INCORPORATING THE SHORT, LONG AND SPLIT PRECINCT BLOCK LISTS PRODUCED BY THE COMPUTER SYSTEM MAINTAINED BY THE STANDING JOINT COMMITTEE ON LEGISLATIVE REAPPORTIONMENT INTO JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 201, 2002 REGULAR SESSION, AS ADOPTED BY THE LEGISLATURE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     WHEREAS, on March 19, 2002, the Standing Joint Committee on Legislative Reapportionment (Joint Committee) adopted and recommended to the Legislature a plan to reapportion the Mississippi State Senate; and

     WHEREAS, the document incorporating the plan adopted by the Joint Committee is contained in short, long and Split Precinct Block Lists produced from the computer system maintained by the Joint Committee bearing the name "Cabell01"; and

     WHEREAS, the Joint Committee's recommendation was incorporated into Joint Resolution No. 201, 2002 Regular Session, which was introduced on March 19, 2002, and referred to the Senate Elections Committee on March 19, 2002; and

     WHEREAS, the Senate Elections Committee considered Joint Resolution No. 201 at a meeting on March 20, 2002, and incorporated amendments adopted at the meeting in a Committee Substitute for Joint Resolution No. 201; and

     WHEREAS, the Committee Substitute for Joint Resolution No. 201 is contained in short, long and Split Precinct Block Lists produced from the Joint Committee's computer system known as "CabellTJ"; and

     WHEREAS, on March 20, 2002, the Mississippi State Senate considered Joint Resolution No. 201, three amendments were adopted and the Senate passed Joint Resolution No. 201 including such amendments; and

     WHEREAS, Joint Resolution No. 201, as passed the Senate, is contained in short, long and Split Precinct Block Lists produced from the Joint Committee's computer system bearing the name "Cabell77"; and

     WHEREAS, on March 21, 2002, the Mississippi House of Representatives passed Joint Resolution No. 201, 2002 Regular Session, as it passed the Senate:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That the short, long and Split Precinct reports produced by the Joint Committee's computer system shall be considered a part of and incorporated into Joint Resolution No. 201, 2002 Regular Session, as adopted by the Legislature.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That true and correct copies of the short, long and Split Precinct Block Lists referred to in this resolution have been transmitted to the Secretary of State by the Chairman of the Senate Elections Committee and filed in his office, and are hereby ratified, confirmed and approved.
