2002 Regular Session

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CORINTH "WARRIORS" BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACH DAVID ROBBINS FOR WINNING THE 2002 CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the Corinth High School "Warriors" Boys Basketball Team captured its fifth Class 3A State Championship, withstanding Heidelberg 69-61 at the Mississippi High School Activities Association's State Basketball Playoffs at the Mississippi Coliseum; and
WHEREAS, the State Championship (Corinth's second title in three years) was the culmination of a perfect 8-0 postseason run, ending Corinth's season with an outstanding 29-3 record for the 2001-2002 season; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the State Tournament Championship, the Warriors won the 3A North Half Regional Tournament, the Division 1-3A Tournament and the Alcorn County Tournament; and
WHEREAS, the following team members achieved individual honors during the 2001-2002 season: All-State: Bryan Brown, Marcus Howard and Rico Wood; State First Team Starters: Bryan Brown, Marcus Howard, Rico Woods, Galvin Davis and Grant Roberts; All-Division: Marcus Howard, Rico Wood, Grant Roberts and Galvin Davis; MVP: Bryan Brown; All-County First Team: Bryan Brown and Rico Wood; Second Team: Grant Roberts, Galvin Davis and Jimmy Taylor; Co-MVP: Marcus Howard; Mississippi/Alabama Game: Bryan Brown; and North-South Game: Marcus Howard; and
WHEREAS, this team was ably coached by David Robbins and Keith Greene who inspired the team to rally during the title game; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Corinth High School "Warriors" Boys Basketball Team and Coach David Robbins for winning the Class 3A State Championship, its fifth title, and wish them continued success in their future athletic and scholastic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the 2002 Corinth High School Championship Team and Coaches, be forwarded to the Principal of Corinth High School and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
