Senate Concurrent Resolution 535

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING JOHNNIE SARTOR, PH.D., FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE VETERANS' HOME PURCHASE BOARD OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI.

     WHEREAS, Johnnie Sartor is a decorated veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, having served on a B17 bomber crew in the 8th Air Force Europe, 457th Bomb Group during World War II; and

     WHEREAS, Johnnie Sartor flew on 26 bombing missions over Europe when the average life span of a B17 crew was 15 missions; and

     WHEREAS, Johnnie Sartor served in the Mississippi National Guard and retired as a Brigadier General in November 1979; and

     WHEREAS, Johnnie Sartor received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. from Mississippi State University, and served as Department Head of the Agricultural Economic Department of the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service; and

     WHEREAS, Johnnie Sartor is an avid supporter of Mississippi State University and its cultural and sports programs, and has numerous friends and visitors in the Left Field Lounge at Dudy Noble Field; and

     WHEREAS, Johnnie Sartor is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars where he has volunteered his services and received numerous state and national awards; and

     WHEREAS, Johnnie Sartor served as a member of the Veterans' Home Purchase Board of the State of Mississippi from July 1992 through March 2001; and

     WHEREAS, during his period of service, Dr. Sartor's leadership, knowledge and commitment to those he served enabled the Veterans' Home Purchase Board to effectively and efficiently provide funds to Mississippi military veterans for the purchase of homes; and

     WHEREAS, the members of the board have expressed their high regard for his record of service with the organization; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend the meritorious service of the citizens of this state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Johnnie Sartor, Ph.D., for his leadership and distinguished service as a member of the Veterans' Home Purchase Board and for his faithful performance of the duties and obligations imposed upon that office.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be presented to Johnnie Sartor, Ph.D., and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
