Senate Concurrent Resolution 534

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING RUDOLPH "RUDY" DILL FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE VETERANS' HOME PURCHASE BOARD OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI.

     WHEREAS, Rudolph "Rudy" Dill is an honorably decorated veteran of the United States Army having served in the 7th Infantry Division in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II, and having been awarded the Purple Heart; and

     WHEREAS, Rudolph "Rudy" Dill participated in four major Asiatic Pacific Theater campaigns during World War II involving ten amphibious landings as a platoon sergeant and a first sergeant; and

     WHEREAS, Rudolph "Rudy" Dill also served in the United States Air Force (USAF) from 1945 to 1962 in the 13th Bombardment Squadron, 3rd Bombardment Wing, 5th USAF with honor and distinction and with service in Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan and Indo-China; and

     WHEREAS, Rudolph "Rudy" Dill also served with distinction in various interior assignments in the United States Air Force as a first sergeant and a sergeant major; and

     WHEREAS, Rudolph "Rudy" Dill has had a distinguished career after retirement from the United States military service; and

     WHEREAS, Rudolph "Rudy" Dill served and retired as President and CEO of the Mississippi Credit Union League, was elected to the Mississippi Credit Union Hall of Fame in 1994; and

     WHEREAS, Rudolph "Rudy" Dill has served as a volunteer in various civic projects too numerous to mention and, in doing so, has contributed to the betterment of his fellowman, community, the state and the nation; and

     WHEREAS, Rudolph "Rudy" Dill served as a member and Vice Chairman of the Veterans' Home Purchase Board of the State of Mississippi from June 1992 through June 2001; and

     WHEREAS, during his period of service, Dill's leadership, knowledge and commitment to those he served enabled the Veterans' Home Purchase Board to effectively and efficiently provide funds to Mississippi military veterans for the purchase of homes; and

     WHEREAS, the members of the Veterans' Home Purchase Board have expressed their high regard for his record of service to the organization; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend the meritorious service of the citizens of this state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Rudolph "Rudy" Dill for his leadership and distinguished service as a member of the Veterans' Home Purchase Board and for his faithful performance of the duties and obligations imposed upon that office.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be presented to Rudolph "Rudy" Dill, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
