AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO JOHN EDGAR GRIFFIN, JR. OF CHICKASAW COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to John Edgar Griffin, Jr. of Chickasaw County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction of the crime of arson in 1996 in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, and who was sentenced to serve three (3) years in the custody of the Department of Corrections.  His sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation for three (3) years.  His probation was terminated on May 13, 1999.  Since that time he has conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
