AN ACT MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO BROADCAST A TELEVISION ADVERTISEMENT AT A VOLUME OF HIGHER DECIBEL LEVELS THAN THE LEVEL OF THE TELEVISION PROGRAM PRECEDING THE ADVERTISEMENT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to broadcast in this state a television advertisement at a volume of higher decibel levels than the level of the television program preceding the advertisement.  Any person, firm or corporation that violates the provisions of this section shall upon conviction be fined not more than Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) or imprisoned in the county jail not more than six (6) months, or both fine and imprisonment. 

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2002.
