House Resolution 75

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING E.H. AND GINGER SUMNERS ON THEIR SUCCESS IN THE TIMBER BUSINESS AND CONTRIBUTION TO THE RESIDENTS OF ATTALA COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.

     WHEREAS, E.H. and Ginger Sumners have spent their life building a successful timber business in Central Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, through their benevolence, the Sumners Foundation was created in 1977 to promote the advancement of education and award scholarships to the residents of Attala County and four neighboring counties; and

     WHEREAS, many residents of Kosciusko and Attala County have enriched their educational endeavors by taking advantage of this perpetual gift provided by the Sumners, whose pledge is "to give back to the area that gave them so much"; and

     WHEREAS, April 11, 2002, has been set aside by the many residents of Attala County as Attala County Sumners Appreciation Day to show the sincerity of their gratitude for the opportunities afforded by the generosity of the Sumners family; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend such outstanding individuals as Mr. and Mrs. Sumners, who have used the resources they have gained throughout the years to prosper the youth of Attala County:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate E.H. and Ginger Sumners for their success in the timber business and the momentous scholarly contribution to the residents of Attala County.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to E.H. and Ginger Sumners and the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
