House Resolution 66

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MR. RICHARD GREENE FOR 25 YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE MID-MISSISSIPPI REGIONAL LIBRARY SYSTEM.

     WHEREAS, Mr. Richard Greene has devoted 25 years of outstanding service to the Mid-Mississippi Regional Library System, also known as MMRLS; and

     WHEREAS, a native of Syracuse, New York, Mr. Greene came to Mississippi in 1974 and served as Director of the Oktibbeha County Library System in Starkville; and

     WHEREAS, in 1976, Mr. Greene came to the Mid-Mississippi Regional Library System in Kosciusko, where he serves as the director; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Greene attended Syracuse University earning his bachelor's and master's degree in library science and has also studied at Rochester Institute of Technology and Mississippi State University; and

     WHEREAS, during his tenure as Director of the MMRLS, Mr. Greene has helped guide the completion of a new library building in Lexington, an addition and renovation at West, renovation at Pickens and additions in Durant; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Greene has been an active member of community and professional organizations including former President of the Mississippi Library Association, chairman of various committees for the association such as the legislative committee, long-range planning committee and public library section committee; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding service of Mississippians such as Mr. Greene:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Richard Greene for his 25 years of outstanding service to the Mid-Mississippi Regional Library System and express our heartiest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Richard Greene and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
