House Resolution 56

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING WILLIAM PERKINS, HADEN GRAGSON AND WILLIAM CRUMP IV UPON EARNING EAGLE SCOUT HONORS.

     WHEREAS, William Perkins, Haden Gragson and William Crump IV, all of Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Troop 200 in Greenwood, Mississippi, attained the rank of Eagle Scout on February 27, 2002; and

     WHEREAS, after earning at least 21 merit badges and completing individual community service projects, Perkins, Gragson and Crump made the pledge to live under the four characteristics of an Eagle Scout:  to live with honor, to be loyal, to be courageous and to serve the community, nation and world daily; and

     WHEREAS, Perkins, an 18-year-old senior at Pillow Academy, built a steel sign at Pillow honoring the patrons of the school for his Eagle Scout project; and

     WHEREAS, Gragson, also an 18-year-old Pillow Academy senior, landscaped a flower bed outside the locker room at Pillow for his project; and

     WHEREAS, 18-year-old Crump, a freshman at Delta State University, for his Eagle Scout project, crafted a guide to help locate names at the Veterans Memorial located on Claiborne Avenue in Greenwood; and

     WHEREAS, each of these young men have prided themselves in exhibiting great dedication to fulfilling the duties and requirements of the BSA, and it is because of their diligence and desire to serve the community, nation and world that they have received the highest rank obtainable by a Boy Scout; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate William Perkins, Haden Gragson and William Crump IV on receiving the rank of Eagle Scout and express our heartiest wishes for success in all their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to William Perkins, Haden Gragson, William Crump IV, Scoutmaster Gordon Ditto and the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
