A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING MR. MATTHEW MOONEY ON BEING NAMED TO THE 2002 MISSISSIPPI ALL-STATE ACADEMIC TEAM.

     WHEREAS, Mr. Matthew Mooney has been named to the 2002 Mississippi All-State Academic Team, which consists of 48 Mississippi community and junior college students; and

     WHEREAS, the All-Mississippi Academic Team recognizes the scholarly achievements and leadership accomplishments of students enrolled in community, technical and junior colleges across the State of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Mooney, a native of Brookhaven, attends Copiah-Lincoln Community College, majoring in business administration with a 3.75 grade point average; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Mooney is involved in a number of organizations including the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Golf Team, Phi Theta Kappa President, Christian Leadership Camp counselor, after school recreational program co-coordinator, orientation facilitator, Trailblazers and was elected Mr. Co-Lin; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding academic achievement, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Matthew Mooney on being named to the 2002 Mississippi All-State Academic Team and express our heartiest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Matthew Mooney and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
