A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING MISS ALICE SANFORD UPON BEING NAMED AS MISS FARM BUREAU, MISSISSIPPI.

     WHEREAS, Miss Alice Sanford, a lifelong resident of Jones County, Mississippi, has been selected as the 2002 Miss Farm Bureau, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Miss Sanford, a very active and outgoing student during her high school years, graduated fifth in her class from South Jones High School in Ellisville, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Miss Sanford's activities at South Jones High School included memberships in the Beta Club and HOSA, as well as being named Miss Congeniality for 1995 and 1998; and

     WHEREAS, having a history of success in pageantry, Miss Sanford, in addition to her current title as Miss Farm Bureau, Mississippi, has held or currently holds the following titles:  Jones County's Junior Miss, 1998; Ellisville Miss Hospitality, 1999; Miss Jones County Junior College; Miss Congeniality, Mississippi College, 2001 and 2002; and First Alternate, Miss Mississippi College, 2002; and

     WHEREAS, after graduating from high school, Miss Sanford attended Jones County Junior College where her honors, recognitions and activities continued to accumulate, including:  Who's Who Among American Junior College Students, Hall of Fame, Sophomore Class Favorite, Golden Key Leadership Award, American Legion Citizenship Award, Most Photogenic, and memberships in Phi Theta Kappa and the Jones County Junior College Choir; and

     WHEREAS, upon the completion of her studies at Jones County Junior College, Miss Sanford transferred to Mississippi College, where she received the Carl Brewer Memorial Scholarship; and

     WHEREAS, as a student at Mississippi College, Miss Sanford has continued to excel in her academic pursuits, having been named to the President's and Dean's lists, elected a member of the Mississippi College House of Representatives, and selected vice president of the Math Association and the Pi Mu Epsilon honor society; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, as evidenced by this beautiful and talented young lady, Miss Alice Sanford:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Miss Alice Sanford upon being named Miss Farm Bureau, Mississippi, and extend to her our heartiest wishes for success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Miss Alice Sanford and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
