AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF PASS CHRISTIAN TO PURCHASE RADAR SPEED DETECTION EQUIPMENT FOR USE BY MUNICIPAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS IN THE ENFORCEMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLE SPEED LIMITS ON THAT PORTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 90 LYING WITHIN THE CORPORATE BOUNDARIES OF THE MUNICIPALITY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The governing authorities of the City of Pass Christian, in their discretion, may expend out of any available funds of the municipality, an amount that the governing authorities determine is sufficient for the purchase of radar speed detection equipment.  If the governing authorities authorize the expenditure of funds for such purpose, then any duly sworn law enforcement officer of the municipal police department may operate and use the equipment to enforce the motor vehicle speed limits on that portion of U.S. Highway 90 lying within the corporate boundaries of the City of Pass Christian.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
