House Bill 1377

AN ACT TO REQUIRE GOVERNMENTAL ENTITIES THAT PLACE GRAVEL, SAND, SALT OR OTHER SUBSTANCES ON PUBLIC ROADWAYS TO MITIGATE ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS TO REMOVE SUCH SUBSTANCES AFTER THE ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS SUBSIDE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Whenever the state, any state agency, any political subdivision of the state or any other governmental entity places gravel, sand, salt or any other substance on a public road, street or highway, to prevent or mitigate adverse weather conditions, the entity that placed the substance on the road, street or highway shall remove the substance after the adverse weather conditions subside.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2002.
