House Bill 1124

AN ACT TO PROHIBIT THE HIRING OF ILLEGAL ALIENS; TO PROVIDE A PENALTY FOR VIOLATING THIS ACT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, partnership, corporation, association or other entity to hire any person who is not a citizen of the United States without a work visa, who is not a resident alien or who is not otherwise eligible to be employed in the United States to perform any work as an employee of such person, firm, partnership, corporation, association or other entity.  Any person, firm, partnership, corporation, association or other entity who violates this section shall, upon conviction, be fined One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) for each person hired in violation of this section.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
