House Bill 596

AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING TO INFORM STUDENTS OF THE TOTAL EDUCATIONAL COST AND THE STATE APPROPRIATION PER FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT STUDENT AT THEIR RESPECTIVE INSTITUTIONS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  During the regular registration held each semester at the state institutions of higher learning, the registrar of each institution shall provide all students registering at the institution with written information specifying the total educational cost and the state appropriation per full-time equivalent student at that institution.  The information must be attached to or printed on each student's statement of tuition and fees due to the institution.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2002.
