AN ACT TO REQUIRE JUDGES TO STATE THE REASONS FOR A RECUSAL IN A WRITTEN ORDER; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Any judge in any court in the state who shall recuse himself from hearing a case shall do so only for reasons specified in state law or in the rules of the court and such judge shall specifically state the reasons for recusal in a written order.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2002.
