AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF JACKSON COUNTY AND INCORPORATED MUNICIPALITIES WITHIN JACKSON COUNTY TO SHARE GOVERNMENTAL EQUIPMENT, MANPOWER, SERVICES AND RESOURCES UPON SUCH TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS THEY MAY MUTUALLY AGREE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The Board of Supervisors of Jackson County, in its discretion, may provide county equipment, manpower and other county services and resources to one or more incorporated municipalities within Jackson County, upon such terms and conditions as may be mutually agreed upon by the board and the governing authorities of such municipality or municipalities.  Before providing such equipment, manpower, services or resources, the board of supervisors shall make a finding, by resolution duly adopted and entered upon its minutes, that such mutual aid is in the best interest of the citizens and taxpayers of Jackson County.

     (2)  The governing authorities of any incorporated municipality within Jackson County, in their discretion, may provide municipal equipment, manpower and other municipal services and resources to Jackson County, or to one or more other incorporated municipalities within Jackson County which are adjacent to and share a corporate municipal boundary, or to both Jackson County and such other municipality or municipalities, upon such terms and conditions as may be mutually agreed upon by the governing authorities of such municipalities and the board of supervisors.  Before providing such equipment, manpower, services or resources, the governing authorities of all such participating municipalities shall make a finding, by resolution duly adopted and entered upon their minutes, that such mutual aid is in the best interest of the citizens and taxpayers of the municipalities.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
