AMENDMENT No. 1 PROPOSED TO

Senate Bill NO. 2851

By Representative(s) Committee

Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

SECTION 1. Any person who takes or possesses a paddlefish in violation of law or any rule or regulation of the Mississippi Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, or who commits waste by discarding any parts of such fish into the waters of this state, is guilty of a Class I violation and is punishable as provided in Section 49-7-141.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effective and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.

Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

AN ACT TO PROVIDE A PENALTY FOR ANY PERSON WHO VIOLATES A LAW OR ANY RULE OR REGULATION OF THE MISSISSIPPI COMMISSION ON WILDLIFE, FISHERIES AND PARKS ESTABLISHED FOR THE PROTECTION OF PADDLEFISH OR WHO COMMITS WASTE BY DISCARDING PADDLEFISH INTO THE WATERS OF THIS STATE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
