AMENDMENT No. 1 PROPOSED TO
Senate Bill NO. 2511

Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
SECTION 1. (1) That portion of Mississippi Highway 25 beginning at the Hinds/Rankin County line and extending northeasterly to its intersection with Mississippi Highway 16 is designated and shall be known as the "Military Order of the Purple Heart Drive."
(2) The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs along and approaching such highway.
SECTION 2. Section 65-3-71.57, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
65-3-71.57. (1) That portion of U.S. Interstate 20 within the State of Mississippi * * * shall be known as the "31st Infantry Division Memorial Highway."
(2) The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs along and approaching such highway.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
AN ACT TO DESIGNATE A CERTAIN PORTION OF MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY 25 AS "MILITARY ORDER OF THE PURPLE HEART DRIVE"; TO AMEND SECTION 65-3-71.57, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO DESIGNATE ALL OF U.S. INTERSTATE 20 WITHIN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI AS THE 31ST INFANTRY DIVISION MEMORIAL HIGHWAY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
