A RESOLUTION TO COMMEND DR. JOHNNIE SARTOR UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM MEMBERSHIP ON THE VETERANS' HOME PURCHASE BOARD.

WHEREAS, Dr. Johnnie Sartor is a decorated veteran of World War II, where he served on a B17 bomber crew in the 8th Air Force Europe, 457th Bomb Group; and

WHEREAS, he flew on 26 missions over Europe, where the average life span of a B17 crew was only 15 missions; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Sartor also served in the Mississippi Army National Guard, from which he retired as a Brigadier General in November 1979; and

WHEREAS, he earned the degrees of B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from Mississippi State University; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Sartor served as the Department Head of the Agricultural Economics Department of the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service; and

WHEREAS, he is an avid supporter of Mississippi State University and the University's cultural and sports programs, and has entertained numerous friends and visitors in the Left Field Lounge of Dudy Noble Field; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Sartor served as a member of the Veterans' Home Purchase Board from July of 1992 through March of 2001, where his leadership, knowledge and commitment to those he served enabled the Veterans' Home Purchase Board to effectively and efficiently provide funds to Mississippi military veterans for the purchase of homes; and

WHEREAS, it is the tradition of the Mississippi Senate to commend a citizen of this great state such as Dr. Sartor who has contributed so much to his community, his state and this country:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Dr. Johnnie Sartor for his enormous contributions to this state and to the veterans of the state through his activities as a member of the Veterans' Home Purchase Board. We extend to him our heartfelt thanks for the tremendous personal sacrifice of time, energy and commitment he has made over the years in order to fulfill his role on that board, and congratulate him on the occasion of his retirement from that service.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Sartor.
