Senate Resolution 36

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CRYSTAL SPRINGS "TIGERS" BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR ITS SUCCESSFUL 2000-2001 SEASON.

WHEREAS, the Crystal Springs High School "Tigers" Boys Basketball Team completed an excellent 2000-2001 season with a record of 21 wins and 14 losses; and

WHEREAS, the Tigers did well in tournament play this year, winning the Crystal Springs Invitational Tournament, placing Runner-up in the District Tournament, winning the Class AAAA South Regional Tournament, and placing 4th in the Class AAAA State Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the following team members earned individual honors: Edward Frazier and Jesse Taylor were named to the All-District Team; Timothy May, Charles Jenkins, Jason Osborne, Jesse Taylor and Edward Frazier were named to the All-Tournament Team for the Crystal Springs Invitational; and

WHEREAS, the team was ably led by Coach Lee W. Payton and Assistant Coach Reginal McGee who instilled a positive team spirit and emphasized basic skills resulting in the team's success; and

WHEREAS, the roster of the 2000-2001 Crystal Springs Tigers is as follows: Tramier Harrison, Trey Evans, Charles Jenkins, Jason Osborne, Jeffrey Frazier, Jermaine Wilson, Edward Frazier, Brian McKenny, Timothy May, Jesse Taylor, Corey Taylor, Nekial Powell, Antarreo Kendrick and David Smith; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the accomplishments of this group of student athletes, who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2000-2001 Crystal Springs "Tigers" Boys Basketball Team and Coach Payton for their excellent season, and wish them continued success in their future athletic and academic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coack Payton and the Principal of Crystal Springs High School on behalf of the team, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
