A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE VALOR AND SACRIFICE OF THE VETERANS OF THE "BATTLE OF THE BULGE" AND COMMEMORATING THE DEDICATION OF A MONUMENT IN MEMORY OF THE AMERICAN MEN AND WOMEN WHO DIED IN THE "BATTLE OF THE BULGE."

WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi has always recognized those citizens who, with uncommon valor in service to our country, have secured the blessings of liberty upon which this country was founded; and

WHEREAS, the "Battle of the Bulge" was one of the most ferocious and monumental battles in the history of the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, 19,000 American men and women died in the "Battle of the Bulge"; and

WHEREAS, the Mississippi Chapter, Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, will dedicate a monument on Saturday, March 17, 2001, at the Armed Forces Museum, Camp Shelby, Mississippi, in memory of those 19,000 American men and women who died in the "Battle of the Bulge":

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the valor and sacrifice of the veterans of the "Battle of the Bulge" and commemorate the dedication of a monument in memory of those men and women who died in the "Battle of the Bulge."

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to the Mississippi Chapter, Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge.
