A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF FORMER REPRESENTATIVE BENJAMIN F. CAMMACK, JR., OF COPIAH COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, AND EXPRESSING THE SYMPATHY OF THE LEGISLATURE.

WHEREAS, former Representative and World War II Veteran Benjamin F. Cammack, Jr., 92, of the Rockport Community in Copiah County, Mississippi, passed away on February 24, 2001; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Cammack was a life-long resident of Copiah County; his family had lived for the last three years in the Rockport Community; and

WHEREAS, he was a member of the Providence United Methodist Church; he served as a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives for two terms; he was a past President of the Farm Bureau; and

WHEREAS, he served on the Board of Directors of Southern Pine for many years as Vice President; he was instrumental in helping get electric power to many parts of Copiah County; he was a member of the Cattleman's Association; he operated a cotton gin for many decades in Rockport; he served in the Army during World War II; and

WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife, Ruth Cammack, of Hazlehurst, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, it is with great respect that we note the passing of this dedicated public servant and World War II Veteran whose contributions to his community, his church and to the State of Mississippi serve as a model to all citizens:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life of former Representative Benjamin F. Cammack, Jr., of Copiah County, Mississippi, and express the sympathy of the Legislature to his family on his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be furnished to the surviving family of Representative Cammack and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
