Senate Concurrent Resolution 551

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION DESIGNATING 2001 AS "THE YEAR OF THE MISSISSIPPI SMILE."

WHEREAS, the Leadership Mississippi Program is working on a very ambitious project entitled "The Power of a Mississippi Smile"; and

WHEREAS, the slogan of the project is "We have a lot to smile about"; and

WHEREAS, the goal of the project is to promote a positive self-image of Mississippi to Mississippians throughout the state; and

WHEREAS, the project includes the production of a series of eight radio and television announcements showing well-known landmarks within the state, wrapped around testimonials from nationally and internationally known Mississippians, which will be broadcast throughout the state during the remainder of 2001, and an educational syllabus and video which will be provided to middle schools throughout the state promoting the positive aspects of life in Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Letter B Productions of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Sights and Sounds of Jackson, Mississippi, are doing all of the production work for this worthwhile project on a pro bono basis; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the time and hard work of this project, which will promote a positive self-image of the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby designate the year 2001 as "The Year of the Mississippi Smile," and we commend the time and investment in this outstanding program by the Leadership Mississippi Program.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be forwarded to Governor Ronnie Musgrove for presentation at any ceremony proclaiming 2001 as "The Year of the Mississippi Smile" and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
