AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE HARRISON COUNTY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION AND HARRISON COUNTY TOURISM COMMISSION TO ACQUIRE AND UTILIZE ONE OR MORE CREDIT CARDS WHICH MAY BE USED BY ITS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND STAFF TO PAY EXPENSES INCURRED BY THEM WHEN TRAVELING IN OR OUT OF STATE IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR OFFICIAL DUTIES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The Harrison County Development Commission and the Harrison County Tourism Commission, respectively, may acquire and utilize one or more credit cards which may be used by their respective executive directors and staffs to pay expenses incurred by them when traveling in or out of state in the performance of their official duties. Said political subdivisions may also utilize said credit cards for the purchase of office supplies and materials provided that such purchases are in compliance with all other applicable purchasing laws and/or regulations. The Harrison County Development Commission and the Harrison County Tourism Commission shall maintain complete records of all credit card numbers and all receipts and other documents relating to the use of such credit cards. The executive directors of each commission shall furnish receipts for the use of such credit cards each month and submit a written report monthly to their respective commissions, which report shall include an itemized list of all expenditures and use of the credit cards for the month, and such expenditures may be allowed for payment by the commission in the same manner as other items on the claims docket. The issuance of a credit card to the Executive Director and/or staff of the Harrison County Development Commission and/or the Harrison County Tourism Commission under the provisions of this legislation shall not be construed to authorize the use of such credit cards to make any expenditure which is not otherwise authorized by law.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
