AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, MISSISSIPPI, TO ELECT TWO ADDITIONAL MEMBERS OF THE PARK COMMISSION OF THE CITY; TO PROVIDE THAT SUCH MEMBERS SHALL BE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF NESHOBA COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, WHO RESIDE OUTSIDE THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY; TO PROVIDE FOR THE TERMS OF COMMISSIONERS ELECTED PURSUANT TO THIS ACT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The governing authorities of the City of Philadelphia, Mississippi, are authorized and empowered, in their discretion to elect two (2) additional members to the park commission created by the city pursuant to Section 21-37-33. Such members shall be qualified electors of Neshoba County, Mississippi, who do not reside within the corporate limits of the City of Philadelphia. The initial terms of the members elected pursuant to this act shall be for three (3) and five (5) years, respectively. Thereafter, the term of office of such members shall be for a term of five (5) years. The governing authorities shall have the power to remove any member elected pursuant to this act for inefficiency or incompetence, or for any other cause.

The provisions of this act shall not be construed to alter the term of office of members of the park commission who are elected pursuant to Section 21-37-33.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
