AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 7-1-355, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO DESIGNATE THE MISSISSIPPI DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY AS THE SOLE ADMINISTRATOR OF ALL PROGRAMS FOR WHICH THE STATE IS THE PRIME SPONSOR UNDER CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF THE FEDERAL WORKFORCE TRAINING ACT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 7-1-355, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

7-1-355. The Mississippi Development Authority is hereby designated as the sole administrator of all programs for which the state is the prime sponsor under Title 1(B) of Public Law 105-220 of the federal Workforce Investment Act of 1998, or its successor, and the regulations promulgated thereunder, and is hereby authorized to take all necessary action to secure to this state the benefits of such legislation. The Mississippi Development Authority is empowered to receive and disburse funds for such programs which become available to it from any source.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
