AN ACT TO CREATE A NEW CODE SECTION 97-1-11, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO CLARIFY SOLICITATION TO COMMIT A CRIME; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The following provision shall be codified as Section 97-1-11, Mississippi Code of 1972:

97-1-11. In addition to any other penalty and provision of law, any person who shall pay, promise to pay, direct, solicit, procure or cause another to commit any felony shall be himself guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, shall be fined not more than Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) or imprisoned for not more than twenty (20) years, or both.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
