Senate Bill 2727

AN ACT TO PROHIBIT INSURANCE COMPANIES FROM REFUSING TO PROVIDE PRICE QUOTATIONS FOR ANY PROPERTY/CASUALTY POLICY INSURING A PUBLIC ENTITY TO ITS AFFILIATED INSURANCE AGENT OR AGENCY LOCATED IN THE SAME COUNTY AS THE PUBLIC ENTITY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. No insurance company may refuse to provide price quotations for any property/casualty policy insuring a public entity to its affiliated insurance agent or agency located in the same county as the public entity, regardless of whether or not the agent or agency was first in requesting the quotation.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
