A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE SOUTHEAST LAUDERDALE HIGH SCHOOL LADY TIGERS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Southeast Lauderdale High School Lady Tigers Basketball Team completed their 2000-2001 season with an astonishing record of 32 wins and only eight losses; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers dominated their opponents in Class 3A during the 2000-2001 season by winning the South State 3A Championship, which wins propelled the Lady Tigers into the Class 3A State Championship where they rolled over opponents to capture the 3A State title; and

WHEREAS, this Championship Team consists of Kenitta Cooley, Michelle Culpepper, Lashondra Hall, Ny'Cresha Little, Shalonda Mitchell, Ebony Moore, Ree Newell, Lindsey Raines, Erika Ruffin, Samantha Smith, Monique Horner, Lesley Ruffin; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers have been supported and encouraged by their manager, Loreal Ruttley, and their scorekeeper, Stephanie Roulier; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers talents for the 2000-2001 season have been showcased through the many individual awards that players have received, including: the naming of Monique Horner, Lesley Ruffin, Kenitta Cooley to the All-Division Tournament Team, the All-South State Tournament Team and the All-State Tournament Team; and the selection of Ebony Moore to the All-South State Tournament Team; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers have been taught the fundamentals of the game and inspired by Head Coach Joe Miller and Assistant Coach Ryan Miller, who have broadened the players knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, Coach Joe Miller was named the Mississippi Association of Coaches 3A Coach of the Year; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and shown a high degree of sportsmanship during the 2000-2001 campaign, and these activities and this attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and will bring honor to Southeast Lauderdale High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our great state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Southeast Lauderdale High School Lady Tigers Basketball Team, Head Coach Joe Miller and Assistant Coach Ryan Miller for their outstanding 2000-2001 season, for winning the Class 3A State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Southeast Lauderdale High School, Head Coach Joe Miller, Assistant Coach Ryan Miller and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
