House Resolution 30

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MENDENHALL HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADERS FOR WINNING MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION'S CLASS 4A STATE CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE SMALL SQUAD DIVISION FOR 2000.

WHEREAS, the Mendenhall High School Cheerleaders won the Mississippi High School Activities Association's Class 4A State Cheerleading Championship in the Small Squad Division for 2000; and

WHEREAS, on February 10, 2001, the Mendenhall Cheerleaders competed at the National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida; and

WHEREAS, the 2000-2001 Mendenhall High School Cheerleaders include Amanda Eady, Grecian Barnett, Dara Barron, Jeanette Berry, Emily Cody, Lindsey Hunt, Jordan Rankin, Leslie Williamson, Keri Patrick, Heather Breeland, Lindsey Griffith, Ashley Rawls and Linsey Wynne; and

WHEREAS, the Mendenhall High School Cheerleaders have been superbly coached and inspired by Coach Amanda Lee Broadhead, who has broadened the cheerleaders' knowledge of the cheerleading competition and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the Mendenhall Cheerleaders have been supported in their cheerleading efforts with the help of Shane Womack, who is the Tiger Mascot for Mendenhall High School; and

WHEREAS, the Mendenhall Cheerleaders spend many hours per week practicing their elite stunts, dance routines and cheers in addition to cheering at sporting events; and

WHEREAS, the Mendenhall Cheerleaders have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual cheerleaders and their coach and bring honor to Mendenhall High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate the Mendenhall High School Cheerleaders and Coach Amanda Lee Broadhead for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association's Class 4A State Cheerleading Championship in the Small Squad Division for 2000 and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mendenhall High School, Coach Amanda Lee Broadhead and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
