House Concurrent Resolution 132

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING DR. L.C. HENSON FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE.

WHEREAS, Dr. L.C. Henson, a native of Kilmichael, Mississippi, has been practicing medicine and serving his community for over 40 years; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Henson graduated in the last class to complete the two-year medical school program at the University of Mississippi in 1954; and

WHEREAS, in 1956, Dr. Henson transferred to Louisiana State University and completed his rotating internship at Charity Hospital in New Orleans; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Henson moved back to Mississippi in 1957 and began his family practice, where he has been on call seven days a week, 24 hours a day except for a few vacations he has taken; and

WHEREAS, after completing 300 CME hours and passing the Family Practice Boards, Dr. Henson was inducted into the Academy of Family Physicians as a Diplomate in 1978; and

WHEREAS, an active member of his community for over 30 years, Dr. Henson has helped hundreds of school children through the 4-H Program and the Santa Gertrudis Association; and

WHEREAS, in addition, Dr. Henson has given approximately 200 high school boys and girls the opportunity to work on the farm, around his house and in the doctor's office, allowing them to earn spending money and prepare them for college or the work force; and

WHEREAS, in over 40 years of practice, Dr. Henson has delivered more than 2,500 babies into the world, aided the elderly and terminally ill to die with dignity and made house calls when necessary; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Henson has been lovingly supported in all his endeavors by his wife, affectionately known as "Ms. Patty," who has been equally devoted to her husband's community and school projects; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding Mississippians, such as Dr. Henson, whose kind and generous spirit will forever be remembered by all those who know him:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Dr. L.C. Henson for his many years of outstanding service and express our heartiest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. L.C. Henson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
