House Concurrent Resolution 121

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MS. PAM JONES UPON BEING SELECTED AS INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE PERKINSTON CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
WHEREAS, Ms. Pam Jones, a resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, has been selected as Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and
WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from the nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators, on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Jones, a Child Development Technology Instructor, has been employed at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past six years; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Jones received an associate's degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and a bachelor's degree and master's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Jones has received numerous awards including Who's Who Among American Teachers in 1994, 1996 and 2000, Mississippi Skills USA-VICA Advisor of the Year 1999, Lamplighter Teaching Excellence Award 1999, and the Mississippi Community College Fellowship Program in 1999; and
WHEREAS, throughout her career, Ms. Jones has served as Coordinator of Family Literacy, an Early Childhood Education Specialist, a member of the Mississippi Early Childhood and Southern Early Childhood Associations, a state and national Skills USA-VICA and a member of the National Tech Prep Network; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding teachers such as Ms. Jones, who has dedicated her career to teaching the young people of this state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Ms. Pam Jones upon being selected as Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend to her our heartiest wishes of success in all her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ms. Pam Jones and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
