House Concurrent Resolution 102

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION URGING CONGRESS TO INCLUDE THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL COUNSELING DEMONSTRATION ACT IN THE FEDERAL EDUCATION PACKAGE.

WHEREAS, this is a very critical time for the Elementary School Counseling Demonstration Act as the bill is scheduled for debate in early March 2001; and

WHEREAS, President Bush's plan does not include the authorization of the Elementary School Counseling Demonstration Act; and

WHEREAS, the Elementary School Counseling Demonstration Act is the only federal program that provides school districts with funds to expand students' access to counseling services through qualified social workers; and

WHEREAS, the Elementary School Counseling Demonstration Act is an invaluable and critical program for schools all over America:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby urge Congress to include the Elementary School Counseling Demonstration Act in the federal education package.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Mississippi Congressional Delegation and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
