A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING DUSTIN PAMBIANCHI ON BEING SELECTED TO JOIN TITANIC DISCOVERER BOB BALLARD AS A JASON XII ARGONAUT IN A LIVE TELEVISED BROADCAST FROM HAWAII.

WHEREAS, Dustin Pambianchi, a native of Cleveland, Mississippi, has been selected to join Titanic Discoverer Bob Ballard as a JASON XII Argonaut in a live televised broadcast from Hawaii; and

WHEREAS, representing Mississippi, Mr. Pambianchi is one of 30 argonauts in the world appearing on camera before classroom audiences that could number two million students; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Pambianchi's science fair projects not only reflect scientific research, they also bear his artistic signature and ability to inform and connect with an audience; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Pambianchi faced tough competition to become an argonaut in a multi-tiered selection process that began in May 2000; and

WHEREAS, in addition to math and science, Mr. Pambianchi is interested in music, weightlifting, computers, diving and art; and

WHEREAS, for the fourth consecutive year, Coahoma Community College will host the televised broadcast and lively question and answer sessions and about 4,500 students from North Mississippi, Arkansas and Tennessee are expected to attend; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of this state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Dustin Pambianchi on his selection to join Titanic Discoverer Bob Ballard as a JASON XII Argonaut in a live televised broadcast from Hawaii and express our heartiest wishes for success in all his future academic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Dustin Pambianchi and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
