A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF MRS. MAYME EDNA REVERE CURTIS AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HER PASSING.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Mayme Edna Revere Curtis departed this life on Saturday, December 30, 2000, causing a great loss to her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Curtis, daughter of Jacob Isaiah and Lenore Greenlee Revere, was born on March 18, 1912, in Itta Bena, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Curtis attended and graduated from Mary Holmes Seminary in West Point, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Curtis was a talented pianist using her gift to accompany many choirs and churches in the surrounding counties; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Curtis was a former member of Mt. Oliver Baptist Church and at the time of her passing was a member of the Church of Christ on Beauclair Street; and

WHEREAS, in Hinesville, Georgia, where Mrs. Curtis spent most of her winters, she was a charter member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Temple; and

WHEREAS, a loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Curtis was always an active part of her children's lives and took a great interest in their activities; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Curtis is survived by four sons, Othello Anderson, Morgan Freeman, Billy Rose Freeman, Clifton Curtis; a daughter, Iris Virginia Gordon; three stepdaughters, Gale Curtis Dent, Veronica Curtis Smith and Hazel Curtis Hardy; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; 23 step-grandchildren and a host of other relatives:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life of Mrs. Mayme Edna Revere Curtis and express our deepest sympathy to her family and friends upon her passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mrs. Mayme Edna Revere Curtis and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
